City of London Tour

Your journey through the City of London begins at Tower Hill. Beneath the shadow of the Tower of London, you’ll hear tales of traitors, revolts and public executions that once drew vast crowds. From Roman foundations to Norman conquest, this is where London’s story truly begins, and where we set the stage for a walk that moves effortlessly through two thousand years of history.

As we wind deeper into the City, traces of Roman walls, Saxon streets and medieval alleyways begin to emerge between modern glass towers. Hidden gems reveal themselves along the way, including the hauntingly beautiful ruins of St Dunstan-in-the-East, where nature and history intertwine in one of London’s most atmospheric corners. You’ll discover how the Great Fire reshaped the skyline, how the Blitz tested the city’s resilience, and how communities rebuilt again and again.

We’ll pause at some of Sir Christopher Wren’s remarkable churches that survived both the Great Fire of London and the bombings of the Second World War, standing as quiet symbols of endurance. At The Monument, built near the very spot where the fire began, you’ll hear the dramatic story of the blaze that transformed medieval London in just a few days.

From there, the tour moves into the beating financial heart of the City at Bank of England. Around Royal Exchange and the historic Royal Mint, you’ll explore how trade, empire and global finance shaped modern London. Here, Roman roads meet global markets, and ancient foundations sit beneath institutions that influence the world economy.

Our journey concludes at the magnificent St Paul's Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece and one of London’s most recognisable landmarks. Beneath its great dome, we reflect on a city that has survived invasion, fire, plague and war, yet continues to reinvent itself. In just two hours, you will have walked through Roman Londinium, Saxon settlement, Norman stronghold, medieval powerhouse and modern financial capital, experiencing a City that is never frozen in time, but always evolving.
